Tips for a Good Night's Sleep on the Road

- 10:23 am - April 18th, 2023

Everyone needs to get a full night's sleep (7 to 9 hours), but in the case of long-haul truck drivers, the consequences can be much more severe. As a truck driver, you can spend extended periods of time on the road in order to meet delivery schedules.

If you don't stop and receive a good night's sleep, you are increasing the risk of an accident. That's why we put together a list of tips to help our community of drivers stay safe and alert on the road with a full night's sleep.

Before bedtime you should avoid...

  • Heavy or spicy meals
  • Liquids, especially alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Nicotine and other stimulants
  • Light exposure from electronics

Prepare for your bedtime by...

  • Keeping your cab or bedroom cool
  • Blocking out light and noise
  • Following a routine
    • Brush your teeth
    • Wash your face
    • Get dressed for bed
  • Going for a light walk or stretching

Don't waste time daydreaming about a good night's sleep. Make sure to take care of your body and mind by getting the proper rest you need!
