Brake Safety Week is August 24-30. Is your Fleet Ready?
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Brake Safety Week for 2025 will be held August 24-30. During this week, law enforcement personnel in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico will conduct motor vehicles inspections, educate drivers and motor carriers about brake safety, and provide inspection and violation data to the CSVA.
CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct routine inspections throughout the week, focusing on brake systems and components with a special focus on drums and rotors, the emphasis for this year’s brake-safety initiative. Brake drum and rotor issues may affect a vehicle’s brake efficiency. Broken pieces of drums and rotors may become dislodged from the vehicle enroute and damage other vehicles or result in injuries or fatalities to the motoring public.
CSVA has created a 2025 Brake Safety Week flyer with brake drum and rotor tips for drivers/operators to avoid violations.
Commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations, or any other out-of-service violations, will be removed from roadways until those violations are corrected.
